Bands from
all over the Midwest came to Marietta this weekend for the annual River
City Ohio Blues Competition at the Lafayette Hotel.
The winner of the 16th annual competition was the Columbus-based band Mojo Theory, followed by Code Blue of Columbus in second and Cleveland soloist Austin “Walkin’ Cane” Charanghat came in third.
Mojo Theory earned the $1,000 first prize and sponsorship by the Blues, Jazz and Folk Music Society of Marietta to the 2009 International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tenn. Since he was a solo artist, Charanghat will also be sponsored by the BJFMS to the IBC.
