Musical Quilt

Musical Quilt by Maren Beery

Music Instrument Quilt
to Raffle for Blues in the Schools
.

Since we received such overwhelmingly positive response to the Blues Quilt raffle held in 2005 I've decided to stitch up another unique quilt. This time we've borrowed professional photographer Jody Purkey and his new studio, Progressive Photography, on Market Street in Parkersburg to photograph a variety of musical instruments. Our heartfelt thanks to Jody, who generously donated his time and expertise to the project. The photographs will be transferred onto fabric by the folks at Creative and Beyond. Then the fun begins! Using the transferred photographs as basic quilt squares I'll sew up a musical delight. We now have the raffle tickets ($5 each or 5 for $20). Please revisit our web site for updates, information and photographs of the completed project.

The quilt will be on display and tickets on sale at both the 2007 Blues Competition in February and the River City Blues Festival in March or by calling Peggy at 740-376-0222 (evenings). We'll pull the winning ticket on March 17 at the Saturday Night Show of the River City Blues Festival at 9:45 p.m. Again, as in 2005, all proceeds from the raffle will be used to help fund our Blues in the Schools (BITS) projects. The 2006 BITS program with Fruteland Jackson in Marietta last winter was such a huge success that we are funding projects in both Marietta and Parkersburg in 2007. Support Live Music! - Maren
